Black & Decker IR1925W Light and Easy Iron with Smart Steam and Nonstick Soleplate Review

Black & Decker IR1925W Light and Easy Iron with Smart Steam and Nonstick SoleplateAgainst my better judgment (I'd suggested a Rowenta), my wife recently
purchased this iron. I made the mistake of trying it and was
promptly transformed into a near-homicidal maniac. The way it leaks
water all over the place is bad enough, but even worse is the way it
drags on any fabric you throw at it. 80-grit sandpaper is more
"non-stick" than this iron.

I suspect that countless blunt-trauma crimes the world over could be solved
if police departments had these irons in their crime scene investigation
kits. I'm donating mine today!

Black & Decker ICR517 First Impressions Cord Reel Iron with INOX Stainless Steel Soleplate Review

Black & Decker ICR517 First Impressions Cord Reel Iron with INOX Stainless Steel SoleplateWell this iron works well, so far. It's a bit awkward getting used to the
extra length due to the cord storage.Adding water is a trick since the port
has a cover that you have to maneuver around.Easy for you to burn your
finger tips while filling.Would I buy it again?Probably not.

Black & Decker ICR500 First Impressions Cord-Reel Iron with Nonstick Soleplate Review

Black & Decker ICR500 First Impressions Cord-Reel Iron with Nonstick SoleplateI like the fact that the dial is on the top of the iron and not under the handle. Also great, is the rewinding feature and no tangling or dangling wire.

I've used the iron several times, and find that unless I have it turned on to a high number for steam ironing, it irons, but doesn't steam. When it does, it does an excellent job.The dry iron is very good.

I haven't tried the self-clean feature; I will do so after a month or so.I've always used GE/Black and Decker irons and have been satisfied with them.My last iron which was not a Black and Decker, clogged up and though I set the iron for steam, it did not steam. And, what made me buy a new iron was that the dial (which was under the handle and difficult to turn) wound completely around and I could not tell whether it was ON or OFF.

In all, I am happy with my new B&D iron.

It is now January 2010, and for the past few months had excellent results ironing. When rewinding the cord would stop, I would have to pull it out a little, then press the button to rewind. This is a minor inconvenience.

My problem now is that the sole plate is scorching, and I am not using any spray starch since the steam setting does an excellent job.During the winter months, I don't iron more than 30 minutes at a time.During the summer months, I have an hour or more or ironing at a time.A few weeks ago, I had flannel shirts and PJs, and when I finished ironing and turned it off, the sole plate was all BLUE.It could be from the flannel shirts I ironed.I had one hard time trying to clean it off as the manual instructs. Finally I resorted to a Rescue soap pad.Again, tonight, I ironed several men's cotton shirts and a few cotton dish towels -- and the sole plate scorched.I scrubbed and scrubbed for over 45 minutes, and got most of it off.

I am greatly disappointed. There is no reason for scorching as no spray starch was used.I intend to contact B&D to see what they say.

Cord/Cordless Steam Iron Review

Cord/Cordless Steam IronWhile I will agree that cordless is a great feature for an iron that's the only good thing this one has going for it.I had trouble with this iron dripping water while ironing with the steam off as well as dripping water just moving it from the base to the fabric on the board. When steaming it kept spitting out this white gritty like sand.I thought it may be just because it was new from the factory but after lots of steaming it still continues to do it.It also releases this stuff when you jiggle the iron.It could be that I just got a lemon but I can't recommend this iron.

Black & Decker F1055 Steam Advantage Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate Review

Black & Decker F1055 Steam Advantage Iron with Stainless-Steel SoleplateYes, I am an ironer and no, I do not iron my underwear, hurrr. Knock it off you haters with your wrinkly-ass clothes. Anyway, I had this iron for less than a year before I gave up on it. For starters, the control dial on the front is small and very hard to turn. Design-wise, the red plastic trim is very attractive looking, but it is way too dark to see the water level easily, which is a real pain. The soleplate got discolored and scratched up pretty fast and no matter what I tried I could never get it clean again. Then the burst of steam button got stuck in the down position. Eventually it would drift back up all the way, but when pushed down a time or two it would be stuck again. That will not do, I needs my steam. I'm not soured on B&D irons as a whole, I have had several in the past and they've served me well, but this model has some flaws.
