Black & Decker IM310 Quick and Easy Iron with Nonstick Soleplate Review

Black & Decker IM310 Quick and Easy Iron with Nonstick SoleplateAfter years of use and finally wearing out my last Black & Decker Quick 'n Easy iron, I bought this newer model right away. Let's just say this is a genuine case of "they sure don't make 'em like they used to!". I realize this is very reasonably priced, however, it has so many shortcomings, you really should give a lot of thought to another model. The blue cover over the water holder is translucent - you cannot tell how much, if any, water you have in the iron unless your lighting is super bright and shining at just the right angle. However, the worst defect is that the iron just decides unpredictably to soak whatever you are ironing. So if you need something ironed to wear in a hurry - do not use the steam feature... OR have a blow dryer handy - you'll need it!

Black & Decker D1500 Digital Advantage Full Size Smart Steam Inox Soleplate, White Review

Black & Decker D1500 Digital Advantage Full Size Smart Steam Inox Soleplate, WhiteI've used this iron 2 years & am very happy w/ it.I am replacing it before it dies all the way.I like the high wattage for quick heating & rapid removal of wrinkles. The plate surface is large, there are many steam vents, makes the task easier.Self-clean feature works well.Just a tad on the heavy side.About average in being stable set at rest on the ironing board.I like to be able to set the amount of steam. Most irons just offer more steam w/ more heat, but at times I like lighter or heavier steam at various temperatures.I like the large water tank & that it steams well right down to the end of the tank.(Not true of all irons.)I iron about 2 hours a week, & more if I sew.Auto off is a good feature too.I like the "beep" indicating it's up to heat.

I don't like it that it's showing suspicious signs of malfunctioning after 2 years of use.Maybe I use it harder than most households, but things used to last a lot longer. Also the water cap is vulnerable, it broke off its hinge right away, & the plastic around it has cracked.Just an irritation when you try to take care of things, keep them new-looking, but they crash anyway. It's operational, but none the less, broken.

I'm very fussy abt. my iron since I do a lot of ironing.I do like this iron well enough to replace it, & I couldn't find it in local retail stores. So I was glad to find it online for a good price.Maybe if I'm super super careful w/ the water cap on the new one on order, it won't break.

Black & Decker ICR505 First Impressions Cord-Reel Iron with Nonstick Soleplate Review

Black & Decker ICR505 First Impressions Cord-Reel Iron with Nonstick SoleplateMy title says it all.I have never been so tempted to hurl an appliance across the room as I am when using this iron!It has a shut-off feature which kicks in after 8 minutes of non-use.Sounds like a great idea, but it never knows when to turn itself back on!It's supposed to have an internal motion sensor so that when you pick it back up, it starts reheating again. That RARELY happens though.I have stood there shaking the heck out of this thing, up and down, side to side, in a circle, mid-air figure 8s...nothing works!I tried turning it off, then on again, but to no avail. The only way I seem to be able to get it to acknowledge my presence is to unplug it and plug it back in. What a pain in the butt! And then this morning, the final straw.Right in the middle of ironing, I meanACTIVELY ironing my pants, and the damn thing shuts itself off!It gives me the 5 little warning beeps and then starts cooling down.So not only are my pants still wrinkly, now they're also streaked with water dripping from the iron! This thing has one more time to mess with me and it's gonna find itself in a crumpled heap out on the curb!Oh and if you're wondering why I gave it 2 stars if I hate it so much, it's because when it DOES work (and that ain't often!) it will definitely knock the wrinkles out of whatever you're ironing, FAST! However, if you value your time in the least, look elsewhere and don't waste it on this clunker!!!

Black & Decker ICR515 First Impressions Cord-Reel Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate Review

Black & Decker ICR515 First Impressions Cord-Reel Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate(The following review was written before my 6-week-old iron just stopped working one day -- lights on, no heat. I replaced it with the same model, but the new appliance smells like melting plastic and spits water along with the steam. Quality control issues at B&D? Apologies to the 4 readers who liked my review. What follows is my original 5-star review.)

I look for very little in an iron -- it has to be well-balanced, have an auto-off feature and get hot enough for my quick style of pressage. This iron has these features and a few more nice touches. The fill indicator is so oriented that I don't have to move the appliance to see whether it is full, The auto-off light doubles as a heat indicator light, turning green when the iron is hot enough, red when it's not and blinking red when it has shut itself off. And it heats up mighty fast!

My only worry is about the cap for the water reservoir, which gimbles up on fragile-looking plastic struts that would easily break if hit the wrong way. Also, the retractable cord is a feature I have no use for.

But for the money, about $28 at Walmart, this appliance is very well-designed, works extremely well, and is just about perfect.

Black & Decker F1055 Steam Advantage Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate Review

Black & Decker F1055 Steam Advantage Iron with Stainless-Steel SoleplateYes, I am an ironer and no, I do not iron my underwear, hurrr. Knock it off you haters with your wrinkly-ass clothes. Anyway, I had this iron for less than a year before I gave up on it. For starters, the control dial on the front is small and very hard to turn. Design-wise, the red plastic trim is very attractive looking, but it is way too dark to see the water level easily, which is a real pain. The soleplate got discolored and scratched up pretty fast and no matter what I tried I could never get it clean again. Then the burst of steam button got stuck in the down position. Eventually it would drift back up all the way, but when pushed down a time or two it would be stuck again. That will not do, I needs my steam. I'm not soured on B&D irons as a whole, I have had several in the past and they've served me well, but this model has some flaws.

Black & Decker D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage Iron Review

Black & Decker D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage IronI have owned Kenmore Irons, and a top line Rowenta that was recently dropped - replaced by this B&D model. It holds more water than others, there is no gimicky controls - very basic - press the button for the right textile setting and go.The sole plate is smooth - steam is powerful.I iron all my jeans - most come out of the dryer with hard creases - this iron presses them all out. Delicate items - poly and blends - no melting! My old Rowenta melted everthing it touched - and then the $15 cleaning kit was a hassel with Rowenta - not to mention all the spitting from the steam holes.Black and Decker has made a fantastic iron that well worth the money!Don't hesitate - just buy it.

Black & Decker AS75 Quickpress Iron with Variable Steam and Nonstick Soleplate Review

Black & Decker AS75 Quickpress Iron with Variable Steam and Nonstick SoleplateOK, for this price you're getting a relatively small iron. But it's a real iron.Much bigger than a travel iron.

Anyway, I needed a spare iron for quick de-wrinkling sessions at my girlfriend's place.(I live out of a duffle bag when I'm there and she doesn't own an iron!)I own a top-o-the-line B&D iron which I love, so I went for this inexpensive "younger cousin."

Bottom line:I recommend it.Once it gets going (a couple of minutes tops), it really whoooshes out the steam!I fill it up, crank it up, and use it for Dockers and Timberland cotton shirts. The steam blows through so well I only have to do one side! It's a time-saving wrinkle killer!

As for finesse jobs on other fabrics, I couldn't tell you.But for hammering out wrinkles in cotton, it's great.I recommend it and it's so inexpensive, you can't go wrong.

Black & Decker D5500 Digital Evolution 1500-Watt Steam Iron with Ceramic Soleplate Review

Black & Decker D5500 Digital Evolution 1500-Watt Steam Iron with Ceramic SoleplatePros:
-Flattens clothes in one pass.
-Excellent temperature control
-Sturdy construction.
-Smooth gliding ceramic sole plate.
-Nice rubber grip.

Cons:
-Awkward water filling.
-Must reset temp after unplugging.
-Not as stable in the upright position as the old T-Fal.
-No built in A/C unit to cool the user.

After a week of use my wife and I are very impressed with this iron as it seems to press clothing in just one pass compared to our 2 year old T-Fal.
As this is the first review I will explain a little about how this almost totally electronic iron works. After you plug it in you press the rubberized button to the left of the head until you reach your desired temperature. The temperature number, 1- 7, along with the type of fabric it is for appears in the window at the top of the head. Pressing the button to the right of the head lowers the temperature. The iron heats quickly and gives a soft beep when it is at the correct temperature. The steam feature is activated by pressing the rubberized button just below the window and an indicator flashes in the window. The steam works very well and of course there is a burst of steam button and a spray button on the top. The burst of steam button is on the right and the spray on the left which is backwards to me but I got used to it pretty quickly. The ceramic sole plate glides over clothing but if you have your temperature set too high for the material it will begin to stick, unlike the Teflon sole plate on the T-Fal which glided over everything at any temperature. This is probably a good thing as it keeps you from scorching your clothes. The rubberized grip is very positive and you have good control over the iron.
The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the water fill system. The iron must be filled in the horizontal position which means that you can't set it down to fill it without burning something. Also, the gray color of the water tank is very aesthetically pleasing but it makes it hard to see the water level in the tank and the full mark is meant to be read with the iron in the horizontal position instead of sitting on its tail. Unplugging it and taking it to the sink is the easiest way to fill it but when you plug it back in you must reset your temperature and steam settings again which is another annoyance that makes me knock it a bit.
Overall it is a good and sturdy iron which has already taken a fall to the floor and is no worse for the wear. Perhaps the 2030 with its mechanical settings and digital readout, as well as a vertical fill water tank, might have been a less annoying alternative but I think that we will be happy with this for years to come.
