Yamata GSI8800 heavy duty commercial iron Review

I'm picky about how an iron/steam generator/gravity iron works & this one doesn't work very good.This gravity iron produces half the steam that my Pacific did.I've used it for a few days, so I'm hoping there's an air bubble in the line rather than permanent skimpy steam.The water line should be longer; it won't reach to the end of my board.The warning light showing that the iron is on is on the back of the iron rather than the side.The heat level indicator is not readily visible as it is a indentation on the black plastic; a dot of red on the plastic would be better.The "control" for shutting off water from the bottle is a piece of plastic junk that doesn't stop the water instead of a screw.

All in all, it's better than a traditional iron, but if it doesn't start producing more steam, I'll replace it.Cheaper wasn't better this time.

2-23-09:I'm editing the review to add a new note:the plastic tubing between the water bottle and the iron is not heat resistant like my other gravity iron.The tubing has touched the iron while I was using it & has started to melt.

I am getting more steam--I probably had a few air bubbles in the tube, but the steam isn't as heavy as my Pacific.

Rowenta DA-35 Latitude 35 Compact Iron with Dual Voltage for Travel Review

I travel quite a bit with my fiance and we always had wrinkled clothes after my poor packing job in our suitcase.I decided to get this travel iron to help and I have not been disappointed!
This iron is tiny (weighs I think 1.7 pounds) and works extremely well!It heats up just as well as my at home iron!One of the other great features is the vertical steamer, which works extremely well too.It is very portable, especially since the handle folds to lie flat.It comes in a nice travel pouch as well.
The cost is extremely reasonable too, especially if it shows up in your gold box!With free shipping its a real bargin.I highly recommend this iron, you will not be disappointed!

Rowenta DZ9080 Advancer Iron Review

This is the best iron I have ever used.It literally irons in half the time compared to my old Black and Decker.I am a seamster and have seen an improvement in my work since I began setting stitches and pressing seams with the Advancer Iron. The burst of steam feature knocks out tough wrinkles and is really helpful with stubborn seams.It is not heavy, but it is heavier than my previous irons, so it really makes pressing fabric easy.The narrow tip is a great feature!It fits like a dream in trouble places. I used it while constructing a coat and the narrow tip allowed access to the most difficult areas.

The one down side is the automatic shut off feature.It will shut off in 8 minutes if left vertically, in 30 seconds if left on its soleplate.I would prefer if this feature were optional.

The Advancer is formulated to work with tap water, not distilled.But for those of us with an excess of organic matter in our tap water, the tap water may be diluted with 50% bottled water (per the instructions) for excellent results.

Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer Review

I purchased Model DG5030 to replace my old Rowenta Pressure Iron and Steamer (with blue water tank).My old iron was perfect and I expected this new one to be even better.However, much to my chagrin, it has two major defects:no matter what the iron temperature or steam settings, water drips (sometimes quite a bit) onto the fabric to be ironed.Also, since the water tank is completely enclosed, one cannot see how much water remains in the tank.Upon contacting Rowenta, I was told that these 2 defects are being "duly noted" in their customer files and that I was not the only consumer to complain.I am greatly disappointed that a company with the stature of Rowenta would not either offer to fix the iron, considering its cost or let me return it.I have written and e-mailed them with the further information that I knew of several other consumers with the same problem(s) so this iron obviously needs re-designing.Until these problems are addressed, I would not advise purchasing this model.
