Black & Decker D1500 Digital Advantage Full Size Smart Steam Inox Soleplate, White Review

Black & Decker D1500 Digital Advantage Full Size Smart Steam Inox Soleplate, WhiteI've used this iron 2 years & am very happy w/ it.I am replacing it before it dies all the way.I like the high wattage for quick heating & rapid removal of wrinkles. The plate surface is large, there are many steam vents, makes the task easier.Self-clean feature works well.Just a tad on the heavy side.About average in being stable set at rest on the ironing board.I like to be able to set the amount of steam. Most irons just offer more steam w/ more heat, but at times I like lighter or heavier steam at various temperatures.I like the large water tank & that it steams well right down to the end of the tank.(Not true of all irons.)I iron about 2 hours a week, & more if I sew.Auto off is a good feature too.I like the "beep" indicating it's up to heat.

I don't like it that it's showing suspicious signs of malfunctioning after 2 years of use.Maybe I use it harder than most households, but things used to last a lot longer. Also the water cap is vulnerable, it broke off its hinge right away, & the plastic around it has cracked.Just an irritation when you try to take care of things, keep them new-looking, but they crash anyway. It's operational, but none the less, broken.

I'm very fussy abt. my iron since I do a lot of ironing.I do like this iron well enough to replace it, & I couldn't find it in local retail stores. So I was glad to find it online for a good price.Maybe if I'm super super careful w/ the water cap on the new one on order, it won't break.

B&D IRON DIGITAL LOW TEMP STEAM CERAMIC Review

B&D IRON DIGITAL LOW TEMP STEAM CERAMICThis iron worked very well for about 4 months. Then, one day, my wife asked me to come look at the iron because it was leaking rust colored water.I knew something was very wrong at this point.I called the manufacturer and they told me they would send out a new one, but it was backordered and wouldn't be shipped until Dec. 15th.Sometime in January, I received a letter stating that it was determined that I had a valid claim and please cut off the plug and send it to them (it has a code on it, which I gave to them back in December), which I did.On Feb. 16th, I called them again because I still had no iron. They tried to send me a cheaper model in it's place because it was still backordered. They also couldn't tell me how long it would be because they didn't have that kind of information. At this point, I threatened to send the rest of the iron to the consumer product safety commission (mainly because rusty water and electricity don't mix). She put me on hold and offered to send me a different iron (still cheaper than the one I bought).I told her no thanks to that also.On hold again. Finally she came back and told me they were going to refund my money. Now I have to fax my reciept back to them and wait some more. This iron seems to be popular, but

Black & Decker D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage Iron Review

Black & Decker D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage IronI have owned Kenmore Irons, and a top line Rowenta that was recently dropped - replaced by this B&D model. It holds more water than others, there is no gimicky controls - very basic - press the button for the right textile setting and go.The sole plate is smooth - steam is powerful.I iron all my jeans - most come out of the dryer with hard creases - this iron presses them all out. Delicate items - poly and blends - no melting! My old Rowenta melted everthing it touched - and then the $15 cleaning kit was a hassel with Rowenta - not to mention all the spitting from the steam holes.Black and Decker has made a fantastic iron that well worth the money!Don't hesitate - just buy it.

Toastmaster 3305 1200-Watt Steam and Dry Iron Review

Toastmaster 3305 1200-Watt Steam and Dry IronTotal waste of money. This iron barely worked for a few weeks, spitting water here and there. After the third week or so, the iron simply stopped working. Yes, there is a 1 year warranty, but it is not worth the hassle and $5.50 shipping expense, plus the length of time it takes to get a replacement iron.

Rowenta DZ5080 Focus Stainless-Steel 1700-Watt Iron Review

Rowenta DZ5080 Focus Stainless-Steel 1700-Watt IronI've never been prompted to write a review of any product that I've purchased over the years, but the Rowenta Focus iron has changed all that. After 50-plus years of ironing, I thinkI've tried every iron on the market. And I've been dissatisfied with them all.My latest, a Black and Decker, remained on the same setting (the hottest), because it was NEVER hot enough.I wear a lot of cotton and linen, which, of course, means a lot of wrinkles.I've misted and starched (when appropriate) ahead of time, all to no avail.I was just about ready to go back to an all polyester wardrobe when I asked a tailor in my hometown to recommend a good iron.Without hesitation, she said, "Rowenta".So I read all the reviews I could find, and decided to take the plunge.

WOW!!!First of all, with my old Black and Decker, I'd have to iron a sleeve or panel of fabric in three or four passes. But with the Rowenta, it only took one pass to remove the wrinkles, even on linen.I quickly realized that my ironing time would be cut in half! And the narrow tip for getting inbetween buttons is genius-inspired.And the STEAM!!!For those who've said it consumes a lot of water, well---duh?? It TAKES a lot of water to produce that much steam.

If you've had it, as I did, with poorly fuctioning equipment, treat yourself to this product. You may just find yourself having a love affair with an appliance. What a joy!!

Product Description:
Providing a smooth nonstick surface with excellent glide, this iron features a thin stainless-steel soleplate with 400 microsteam holes to deliver perfect steam distribution. The unit combines electronic temperature sensors and controls with LED lights in an easy-to-use system. Red signals too hot, yellow signals too cool, and green signals an ideal temperature for the fabric. In addition, its high-precision tip delivers steam to hard-to-reach areas like seams, collars, pockets, and around buttons. Choose the powerful burst of steam option to help iron out stubborn wrinkles, or select variable steam that matches the right amount of steam to the fabric type. Even more, the vertical steam function allows the iron to be used in an upright position to remove wrinkles from drapes and hanging garments. For safety, a three-way automatic shutoff function turns the iron off after eight minutes if vertical and after 30 seconds if horizontal or tipped over. The iron also provides a self-cleaning system that removes loose mineral deposits and flushes out impurities for clean steam performance. Other highlights include a soft-grip handle for comfort, a large soft-touch rear for extra stability when set on its heel, a large 10-ounce water tank, a covered filling inlet, an anti-drip system, and an easy-to-use precision dial. The 1700-watt iron measures 10-1/2 by 3-1/2 by 5 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Black & Decker D5500 Digital Evolution 1500-Watt Steam Iron with Ceramic Soleplate Review

Black & Decker D5500 Digital Evolution 1500-Watt Steam Iron with Ceramic SoleplatePros:
-Flattens clothes in one pass.
-Excellent temperature control
-Sturdy construction.
-Smooth gliding ceramic sole plate.
-Nice rubber grip.

Cons:
-Awkward water filling.
-Must reset temp after unplugging.
-Not as stable in the upright position as the old T-Fal.
-No built in A/C unit to cool the user.

After a week of use my wife and I are very impressed with this iron as it seems to press clothing in just one pass compared to our 2 year old T-Fal.
As this is the first review I will explain a little about how this almost totally electronic iron works. After you plug it in you press the rubberized button to the left of the head until you reach your desired temperature. The temperature number, 1- 7, along with the type of fabric it is for appears in the window at the top of the head. Pressing the button to the right of the head lowers the temperature. The iron heats quickly and gives a soft beep when it is at the correct temperature. The steam feature is activated by pressing the rubberized button just below the window and an indicator flashes in the window. The steam works very well and of course there is a burst of steam button and a spray button on the top. The burst of steam button is on the right and the spray on the left which is backwards to me but I got used to it pretty quickly. The ceramic sole plate glides over clothing but if you have your temperature set too high for the material it will begin to stick, unlike the Teflon sole plate on the T-Fal which glided over everything at any temperature. This is probably a good thing as it keeps you from scorching your clothes. The rubberized grip is very positive and you have good control over the iron.
The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the water fill system. The iron must be filled in the horizontal position which means that you can't set it down to fill it without burning something. Also, the gray color of the water tank is very aesthetically pleasing but it makes it hard to see the water level in the tank and the full mark is meant to be read with the iron in the horizontal position instead of sitting on its tail. Unplugging it and taking it to the sink is the easiest way to fill it but when you plug it back in you must reset your temperature and steam settings again which is another annoyance that makes me knock it a bit.
Overall it is a good and sturdy iron which has already taken a fall to the floor and is no worse for the wear. Perhaps the 2030 with its mechanical settings and digital readout, as well as a vertical fill water tank, might have been a less annoying alternative but I think that we will be happy with this for years to come.
