Black & Decker C520 Gizmo Steam 'N Crease 3-in-1 Iron Review

Black & Decker C520 Gizmo Steam 'N Crease 3-in-1 IronThat's right it neither steams nor creases and it barely irons.I live in a small apartment and was looking for a space saving item that would fulfill all needs; space saving, steaming, creasing and ironing. The steamer sprays water all over your clothing and the creasing device doesn't keep enough tension to crease a neat line.I tried using it with the recommended fabric brush which only collected water and did nothing to improve results.

Reliable J420 IronMaven Home Ironing Station with Aluminum Sole Plate Review

Reliable J420 IronMaven Home Ironing Station with Aluminum Sole PlateI bought an IronMaven in November 09 after burning out my third $100 steam iron in 3 years. My husband and I are employed professinals and I do all my own ironing. I wanted an iron that could melt the make up off my face and that would last. This product delivers. I have been using it for 3 months before writing this review. This unit is well made and has heft. It has a tank that holds water and I put it on the end of the ironing board. The iron itself is smaller than the other irons I have had, but this is good. You can get into the tight spots on clothes easier. It has a cork covered handle that is easy to grip. It produces so much steam that your ironing goes quicker. Shirts look better than when done by professional shirt service. You do need extra padding on the iron board to avoid grid marks coming through- I just put two covers on the board and eliminated this problem. It takes about 10 minutes for the unit to warm up and produce steam. When the tank is full you can steam about 40 minutes without a refill on water. The only downside to this unit is that if you needed the full length of the ironing board, you have to put the tank somewhere close. The cord from the iron to the tank is only about 3 feet long. I would buy this unit if you like lots of steam and do all your own ironing.

Product Description:
Ironing no longer has to be a time-consuming task thanks to this professional-quality iron. The unit quickly sends dry steam into fabric fibers using a pressurized system that makes it possible to smooth out wrinkles and press in neat-looking creases in half the time as a standard iron. Use the power of pressurized steam for everything from slacks, shirts, dresses, and skirts to table cloths, napkins, pillow cases, and more. The ironing station provides a large 5-cup 18/10 stainless-steel water tank, and it only takes seven or eight minutes to heat up. In addition, the iron offers a user-friendly fingertip-access control panel with power switches for the boiler and iron, a power on/off indicator light, a low-water indicator that shows when it's time to refill the tank, and automatic boiler shut-off for safety. The iron also features an aluminum sole plate with steam holes at the tip, a comfortable heat-resistant cork handle, and a locking mechanism for the steam-activation button, which allows for continuous steam when using the iron as a fabric steamer (vertical steaming). Other highlights include an operating pressure of 50 p.s.i. or 3-1/2 bars, a removable iron rest for convenient placement of the iron on the ironing-board surface, a dual-function safety/fill cap, and convenient wrap-around cord storage. The ETL-approved 1450-watt ironing system measures approximately 12 by 12 by 13 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Rowenta DA-75 Steam ' n Press Dual-Voltage Travel Steam Iron Review

Rowenta DA-75 Steam ' n Press Dual-Voltage Travel Steam IronMy wife and I had a pretty nice Rowenta steamer that we got as a wedding gift about 4 years ago.Well, that one didn't have the dual voltage switch and when we were in Europe, we basically fried it (our fault - we thought the converter would work with it, but apparently not).Anyway, we replaced it with this model last fall.Big mistake. The first thing I noticed is this one is made in Mexico, the old one was made in Germany. Also much cheaper quality - the parts, the fit and finish. We turned it on and it never heated up.Took it back and brought #2 home. This one heated up, got so hot that it emitted a scary smell (like when you clean an oven) and the plastic cover plate got too hot to the touch.Based on reading the manual and the website, I don't think this is supposed to happen. At any rate, we were never able to get it to emit steam, no matter how long we waited or how much we pressed the button.Back to the store to exchange it for #3.This time we made the clerk try it out to see if it was just us.It wasn't.None of the store personnel were able to get it to work. When they gave us a new one, I asked them to try it as well.Same result. They had to open yet another new one out of the box (we're up to #4 now, if you're still trying to keep count) which worked.Admittedly I was pretty leery at this point, but we were leaving on a trip in less than a week and they stocked no other steamer models. So I took it home and it went with us to Japan.Worked fine the first few times, but after about a week of travel it began to fall apart. Now it leaks profusely and the steam output is about half what it once was.I contacted Rowenta but the hassle to box this thing up, send it to the service center in San Diego, etc. is just not worth it to me.Needless to say, I am through with buying Rowenta.

Sunbeam 6062 Turbo Steam Iron with Automatic Shut-Off Review

Sunbeam 6062 Turbo Steam Iron with Automatic Shut-OffThis iron is the best iron I have ever had.The first thing I noticed was the extra long cord, so no more fighting the cord to get the iron to reach the entire length of the ironing board. When you turn the iron on, the ready light turns on within a minute or two so no more waiting around for it to heat up.It has a feature to choose the fabric type you will be ironing and you can choose whether you want steam or no steam. If you choose the steam feature, it will continue delivering the perfect amount as you iron and instantly stop steaming as you lift it off the board. There is also a button for additional blasts of steam if you have a really stubborn wrinkle. In addition to all the above features, there is also the continuous steam feature that works for up to 10 minutes both vertically and horizontally if you prefer steaming a garment instead of ironing it.Before I bought this iron, I had to spray water on my clothes prior to ironing. Now I got rid of the spray bottle, iron my clothes in less than half the time, and they look like I just picked them up from the dry cleaners.I love this iron and now instead of dreading this task, I actually enjoy ironing clothes.

Reliable Replacement Filters for V95 Iron, 2-Pack Review

Reliable Replacement Filters for V95 Iron, 2-PackThe iron takes forever to heat up. The steam is barely there even on "high" volume. I had a Rowenta before this and it was 100% better. The iron shuts down way too soon and then you have to wait forever for it to heat up again. A total waste of money!

Rowenta DZ9080 Advancer Iron Review

Rowenta DZ9080 Advancer IronThis is the best iron I have ever used.It literally irons in half the time compared to my old Black and Decker.I am a seamster and have seen an improvement in my work since I began setting stitches and pressing seams with the Advancer Iron. The burst of steam feature knocks out tough wrinkles and is really helpful with stubborn seams. It is not heavy, but it is heavier than my previous irons, so it really makes pressing fabric easy. The narrow tip is a great feature! It fits like a dream in trouble places. I used it while constructing a coat and the narrow tip allowed access to the most difficult areas.

The one down side is the automatic shut off feature. It will shut off in 8 minutes if left vertically, in 30 seconds if left on its soleplate.I would prefer if this feature were optional.

The Advancer is formulated to work with tap water, not distilled. But for those of us with an excess of organic matter in our tap water, the tap water may be diluted with 50% bottled water (per the instructions) for excellent results.
